Platform: Windows PC

This Privacy Policy describes how Step Mixer (“the App”) handles information when provided by Step Interactive, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “developer”).

1. Local audio processing

The App captures audio from the microphone and application audio sources you select so it can mix and route that audio to local playback devices and a virtual microphone. Audio processing occurs locally on your Windows PC. The App does not upload your audio to Step Interactive or to a cloud voice-enhancement service. If you use clip capture, editing, saving, or export features, audio files are created and stored locally.

If you route audio into another application, such as a game, chat, or streaming application, that application may transmit or retain it under its own settings and privacy policy.

Optional voice enhancement

Isolate Voice uses the separately downloaded ClearVoice component, its model weights, and runtime libraries to process selected audio locally on your PC. Once installed, voice enhancement does not require a cloud inference service or an upload of your audio to the model developers. The shipped component uses its packaged model rather than downloading a checkpoint while processing.

Processing can create local working audio files and an enhanced output. Temporary files are cleaned up during normal operation, but interruptions or errors may leave files on your device. Clips and exports you choose to save remain until you delete them. Step Interactive does not receive those files unless you choose to send them to us.

2. Information collection

The App does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or telemetry.

The App does not transmit mixer activity, device details, process information, scene information, or usage information to Step Interactive.

3. Information stored on your device

To restore your setup, the App stores information locally on your device. This may include:

  • Named scenes and the last-used mixer configuration
  • Selected audio-device and application-source identifiers, names, and window titles
  • Gain, mute, routing, hotkey, and overlay preferences
  • General App and background-engine settings
  • The accepted Terms of Service version and acceptance date/time, stored locally so the first-launch screen does not need to appear again for that version
  • Clip and soundboard information, saved or exported audio, and local working files created during editing or voice enhancement

This information stays on your device and is not uploaded by the App. Local settings may remain after an upgrade or uninstall depending on the installation method and Windows behavior.

4. Feedback and support

The App displays the Step Interactive support email and can copy it to your clipboard. It does not automatically submit feedback or diagnostic data. If you choose to contact us by email, your email provider processes the message and we receive the information you voluntarily include.

Support messages, screenshots, or error details you send may contain file paths, device or application names, and other personal information. Review and redact them before sending. Do not send private recordings, credentials, or other sensitive information. Third-party software included in the optional download does not automatically send your support request to its developers.

5. External websites and separate products

The App can open hardcoded links to the Step Interactive website, Ko-fi, and the official VB-Audio website. These websites are governed by their own privacy policies. Ko-fi processes optional donations independently of the App.

VB-Cable and any other audio driver you choose to install are separate products maintained by their respective providers. Step Mixer does not bundle VB-Cable, and those products are governed by their own licenses and privacy terms.

Bundled third-party code and model weights used by the optional download run locally; their inclusion does not mean your audio is sent to their developers. If you choose to visit an upstream website or contact a third-party provider, that interaction is governed by that provider’s privacy practices. User-selected replacement libraries may behave differently from the shipped component.

When you visit this website, your browser connects to the website hosting service and loads fonts from Google Fonts. Those services receive the network requests needed to deliver the page and fonts. These browser requests are separate from Step Mixer’s local audio processing.

6. Microsoft Store

If you obtain the App through Microsoft Store, Microsoft may process download, installation, device, and Store account information under Microsoft's own terms and privacy policy. Step Interactive does not receive payment information through the App.

Downloading or updating the optional voice-enhancement package through Microsoft Store requires network access and is handled by Microsoft’s Store services. This is separate from local voice enhancement after installation. Viewing the installed optional package’s license notices in the App is offline and does not initiate a download.

7. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and Step Interactive does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.

8. Changes to this policy

If the App’s functionality changes in a way that affects privacy, this Privacy Policy will be updated.
