Contact
For support requests, bug reports, audio-quality problems, or feature suggestions, email contact@stepinteractive.dev.
When reporting a problem, please include:
- Your Step Mixer version and Windows version
- Your microphone, playback device, and virtual-microphone destination
- The application audio source involved
- What you expected, what happened, and whether restarting Step Mixer changed the result
- For Isolate Voice problems, whether the optional voice-enhancement package is installed, its version if available, and the error message
Review screenshots and error details for personal file paths, device names, and other private information before sending them. Step Mixer does not automatically submit diagnostic data or contact third-party developers. See the Privacy Policy for support-message handling.
Virtual microphone setup
Step Mixer mixes selected local audio sources and sends the result to a compatible virtual-audio destination. If no compatible destination is installed, the App can open VB-Audio’s official VB-Cable download page. VB-Cable is separate software and is not bundled with Step Mixer.
- Install and configure a compatible virtual-audio destination.
- Select that destination in Step Mixer.
- Select its matching capture endpoint as the microphone in Discord, a game, or another voice application.
Step Interactive can help with Step Mixer’s routing and integration. Driver installation, licensing, and provider-specific issues are handled by the driver’s provider. Follow that provider’s official instructions and terms.
Optional voice enhancement
Isolate Voice uses the separate ClearVoice voice-enhancement download, including its model and runtime dependencies. Downloading or updating that package through Microsoft Store requires network access; processing audio after installation runs locally. The optional download is not required for the App’s other features.
- Check that the optional package is installed. If installation fails, note the Microsoft Store error and confirm that the Store is available on your device.
- If the App reports missing model or runtime files, reinstall the official optional package through the supported Store installation flow. Do not replace individual files inside the signed package or obtain missing components from unofficial download sites.
- Record the exact error and the step that failed. Voice-enhancement processing failures should be reported to Step Interactive; Store account and download-service issues may require Microsoft support.
- If you selected your own LGPL replacement library, include that fact in your report. To compare with the shipped runtime, follow the included replacement instructions to restore the default selection.
Third-party licenses and replacement libraries
The App’s Legal screen provides “Open Source Licenses” for base-app components and “Optional Voice Enhancement Licenses” for the separate download. When the optional package is installed, its complete notices are available offline; opening that screen does not download the package.
The optional package includes LGPL library source materials and local replacement instructions in LIBSNDFILE-RELINKING.txt. StepMixer’s supplemental terms preserve modification for your own use and reverse engineering to debug those modifications for publisher-controlled works using libsndfile or libsoxr, including Python-SoXR, as required by LGPL section 6. See the Terms of Service and included licenses for the scope of those permissions.
Those replacement mechanisms do not grant permission to modify or reverse engineer Intel OpenMP or Intel MKL components. Intel Software retains its separate license restrictions, and other third-party materials retain their own licenses. Step Interactive can help identify the shipped configuration but cannot change a third-party provider’s license or guarantee compatibility with a user-modified library.
Bundled third-party components are supported as part of Step Mixer’s integration. Separately installed drivers, external websites, and donation or Store services remain their providers’ responsibility. Step Interactive is not affiliated with or endorsed by the upstream model or software developers.
Basic troubleshooting
- Confirm the selected microphone, playback device, application source, and virtual-microphone destination are available in Windows.
- Check that the relevant Step Mixer input and output cards are enabled and not muted.
- Verify the target voice application is using the expected virtual capture endpoint.
- Restart the affected audio application, then restart Step Mixer if the device list or audio session is stale.
- Use headphones while monitoring a live microphone to reduce acoustic feedback.
